Orsett Masonic Hall

We meet, along with many other Lodges and Chapters at the Orsett Masonic Hall, at Rectory Road, Orsett, where since 1963 we have enjoyed the 'hallowed atmosphere' of a purpose built hall.  The hall itself is split into three distinct areas, the temple itself, a dining area and the social club area. In the original configuration the lodge, social area and the dining area were all held in the same room, but the building was extended and improved over the years.

The temple is of an unusual architectural design, the internal layout of the lodge is traditional, however the temple itself resides in the rafters of the building and it has an 'A' frame canopy which extends the entire length of the temple roof, On many occasions we have heard the thump of head on oak, as the unsuspecting soul lifts his head or attempts to rise from his position only to meet one of the cross sections which stand proud of the roof. It is a very unusual and pleasant lodge room, and it is indeed a site to behold. 

 

The Dining Hall

The dining hall is a dedicated part of the building and is used for all 'festive boards', it has the capacity to seat eighty+ people in comfort and it has a small stage area to the south east of the hall, with an organ and a piano for the more harmonious aspects to our festivities. This room is obviously the main social area of the building and the room is adorned with a dado rail with an interesting assortment of Masonic and other curious such as a collection of Beer mugs and plates.
